ICL Eye Surgery

Your eyes observe the natural beauty of the world around you. Contact lenses and eyeglasses can be inhibiting for people seeking visual freedom.

If you are ready to break free from the visual limitations of traditional contact lenses or eyeglasses take a look at EVO Visian ICL – an Evolution in Visual Freedom.

ICL stands for Implantable Contact Lenses, and EVO Visian ICL corrects common vision problems, like near-sightedness, astigmatism, and farsightedness.

What is EVO Visian ICL?

EVO Visian ICL is a soft, flexible lens that is gently inserted and positioned in your eye behind the iris (coloured part of the eye) and in front of your natural lens, making it undetectable to any observers. The procedure is completely painless.

Unlike other procedures, the EVO Visian implantable contact lens procedure does not remove corneal tissue but works in harmony with your natural eyes to provide exceptional quality of vision, allowing you to see the world around you in crystal clear clarity.

Why Choose EVO Visian ICL?

Image representing biocompatibility

ICL is made of biocompatible Collamer – proprietary material used exclusively by STAAR Surgical. Collamer is a unique material that contains collagen which means the lens is made to naturally be in harmony with your eye. The ICL Collamer technology has unique advantages that make it an ideal material for a vision correction lens, including UV protection and it is easy to implant because it is soft and pliable.

No dry eye syndrome

ICL can be described as additive vision correction. Unlike other procedures, the ICL procedure does not remove corneal tissue, but works in harmony with your natural eyes to provide exceptional quality of vision. Because the cornea is left intact with no reshaping or removal of the corneal tissue it does not induce dry eye like laser refractive procedures.

A quick procedure and recovery

The procedure lasts between 20-30 minutes. Most people resume their daily activities in just a few days with clearer vision. Many of our patients can sit up from the operating table and see more clearly immediately, even reading their phone screen in the reception waiting area before leaving the clinic.

image representing removability

Though the ICL is designed to remain in the eye without maintenance, permanently correcting your vision, the lens can be completely removed providing flexibility for the future. In the event of a major prescription change or the availability of new vision correction options, ICL is completely removable. Allowing you to keep pace with advancing technology and your future needs.

How does ICL eye surgery work?

EVO Visian ICL functions to focus light properly back onto the retina in a similar way glasses and contacts lenses do, but without causing any discomfort or lifestyle impact on the wearers life.

Your eye is dilated and made numb with eye drops and so, the implantable contact lens procedure is completely painless. The Doctor will create a small opening at the base of your cornea to insert the Evo Visian ICL. The lens is then carefully positioned within your eye and the procedure is over in 20-30 minutes.

Who is ICL for?

Adults 21 – 60 years of age with short-sighted prescriptions ranging from -0.5D to -20.0D, longsighted prescriptions up to +16D and up to 6.0D of astigmatism.

You are not excluded (unlike laser eye surgery) if you have:

  • Thin or irregular corneas (Keratoconus)
  • Dry eye
  • High astigmatism
  • High myopia
  • High hyperopia

Many patients don’t meet the requirements for laser refractive procedures because their prescription is too high or they have thin corneas. However, ICL provides them a safe and effective treatment.
