Monofocal consultation

Discover a life without plastic and glass lenses

A monofocal lens consultation couldn’t be easier. Our friendly team will guide you through eye assessments lasting around one hour. Once complete, your specialist will advise you on the best implant power for your eyes. During these tests we’ll dilate your pupils to capture detailed scans of the cornea/retina and your exact prescription.

Prior to your appointment, we’ll ask you to avoid contact lenses for two weeks so your eyes are ready for accurate measurements.

None of the tests are invasive or uncomfortable, and our ophthalmic technician will support you throughout. The dilating drops can blur vision, so please arrange a friend or family member to help you home.

Monofocal treatment

We use advanced lenses to bring you the best vision

Please arrive without eye make-up and don’t use eye drops unless we’ve advised otherwise. When you arrive at My-iClinic, our nurse will explain what to expect before and after surgery, answer any last-minute questions, and guide you into the procedure room. We’ll place numbing drops on the eye and gently dilate the pupil to keep you comfortable throughout.

Your surgeon will talk you through each step. A tiny, self-sealing opening is made and a monofocal lens implant is positioned securely inside the eye. When the procedure is finished, our nurse will review aftercare, show you how to use your drops, and confirm your follow-up. Your visit typically takes around two hours from arrival to heading home, and most patients leave the clinic the same day.

Monofocal aftercare

Recovery after monofocal lens surgery is usually about one week. Keep activity light, use your drops as directed, and then attend your aftercare appointment with your specialist.

Our team is here throughout that week to answer questions and support your healing. After your follow-up, most patients enjoy clear distance vision with far less reliance on glasses or contacts (reading glasses may still be needed for close work).

Save With My-iClinic

Monofocal lens surgery can be more cost-effective than decades of glasses and contact lenses. Rather than paying hundreds every year for new frames, lenses, and solutions, you make a one-time investment of around £2,750 per eye and benefit from lasting distance vision.

Our implantable lenses are made from biocompatible Collamer, a STAAR Surgical material that includes collagen so the lens naturally harmonises with the eye. Collamer provides built-in UV protection and its soft, flexible form makes implantation comfortable.

Dry eyes

No More Dry Eyes

Monofocal lens surgery replaces the eye’s natural lens with a clear, artificial implant designed to correct vision at a single focal point, most often distance. By addressing the source of focusing issues directly, it provides long-term clarity and reduces the need for distance glasses, though most patients will still require reading glasses for near tasks.

Recovery
