Premium lenses we provide for your cataract surgery

EDOF
MULTIFOCALS
MONOFOCAL
Our premium lenses come at an extra cost added to your cataract surgery price. Depending on the lenses and suitability for your vision, our cataract specialist will be able to disclose the lens prices that are suitable for you.
Depending on the implants a person is suitable for, our cataract patients have achieved much better vision by choosing EDoF, Torric, Multifocal, Monofocal or Trifocal lenses.

EDoF Lenses

5%
Independence from glasses
Our Extended Depth of Focus lenses are used for our presbyopic patients needing a broader range of vision from their intermediate to distance vision.
The lenses have a continuous change in periphery range by focusing the light in an extended longitudinal plane, instead of discrete points in a patient’s sight.
Edof is the best lens implant option to achieve a brighter, and larger periphery of vision. Edof lenses have minimal glare, or halo side effects that can be associated with multifocal lenses.

Toric Lenses

5%
Independence from glasses
Our Torric lenses are for patients who may require some correction of astigmatism in their cornea.
We aim to correct any astigmatism for our patients with Torric as part of our standard care after Cataract Surgery.

Monofocal Lenses

5%
Independence from glasses
Our Monofocal lenses are for patients that would like their distance sight to be clear. This means tasks such as: reading signs and sightseeing will be clear.
However, these lenses will require our patients to use glasses for intermediate and near tasks.

Multifocal Lenses

5%
Independence from glasses
Our Multifocal lenses are for patients needing near, intermediate and distance sight. These lenses are to maximise the range of vision to reduce the possibility of glasses wearing.
However, glasses may still be needed for intensive near tasks, for example: reading very small print, or in poor light situations.

Monovision

5%
Independence from glasses
Monovision is when we correct the dominant eye for distance vision, and the other eye is corrected for near vision. When both eyes are viewing together, the distances pair.
However, monovision is an older technique which can create more complications when trying to correct the distances. Our patients prefer newer lenses that work for a better optimal visual outcome.

I have attended the my-Iclinic for a number of years and always found them to be excellent. When I needed a cataract operation they were the obvious choice. The whole procedure went like clockwork and was completely painless. My eyesight is vastly improved. I would highly recommend the I clinic to anyone as the equipment they use is cutting edge and there is a continuity of care as you always see the same consultant. The staff are very friendly and approachable.

I saw Mr Bolger for cataract surgery with lens implants earlier this year. This is a word-of-mouth clinic, well worth the journey quite far into north London. The whole place feels 100% clinically led by its two consultants. Close attention to detail is in evidence everywhere, from reception right through to follow-up. No one relishes eye procedures, but this was a good experience, with clear and patient communication, plus excellent written information to take away. I was so glad to be there in purpose-built surroundings, under the care of an experienced surgeon and his own team, rather than in a rushed NHS setting, or in the typically more commercial atmosphere of Harley Street.

Look no further! I researched for over a year to find the best laser eye clinic for my complex astigmatic eyes to see if laser surgery would benefit me and this clinic is it! Great service from all the team, especially optician Bharvi and John himself. Lovely comfortable practice, super modern equipment with some incredible machines! The superb surgeon John Bolger has been practicing for decades, is top of his field and lectures all over the world. To top it all off there is tea and coffee on tap! There are chepaer surgeons out there but these are your eyes so you want the best! And its worth it!

I have had double cataract removal and my vision was adjusted. I cannot praise My-iclinic highly enough. It was a stress free experience from pre-op to surgery then post-op. I felt extremely reassured and was dealt with in a friendly and professional manner with much care and attention. I can see without glasses for the first time in 30 years, and everything is so clear and bright. Many thanks to Bola Odufuwa-Bolger who performed the surgery.

I had the SMILE procedure in July - it’s now September and my vision is perfect. The procedure was painless and I recovered quickly (I could see clearly after a few hours and completely the day following the procedure). John Bolger was thoughtful, honest and professional. Even though the clinic is quite out of the way for me, I’m glad I made the effort to travel for the level of care.

I had cataracts removed in both eyes and was very pleased with how the operation went and the results. I can see! The operation itself was painless and there was only a day or so of mild discomfort afterwards. The initial consultation, operation and follow-up appointment were all efficiently run and consultant Ms Bola Odufuwa-Bolger and team were friendly, helpful and informative, putting me at ease at all times. I would recommend My-iClinic to anyone considering cataract surgery.

Great surgery, excellent team, deep knowledge of eye business - no wonder Dr.Bolger was chosen by Her Majesty Queen Elisabeth. He literally gave me ability to read again glasses free, although other clinics couldn’t do it

Some years ago I chose My-iClinic to have a double Cataract operation which has changed my life considerably. I now have almost perfect vision without needing glasses or lenses. From the initial consultation right through to post-op, I couldn't have been cared for any better. Mr Bulger has created an excellent team. Recently, I revisited the clinic for my annual examination which revealed that one of my eyes had become a little lazy. I met with the very thorough Fatima, the resident Optometrist & Orthoptist who quite simply put my eyes in the gym with a series of exercises to be completed at home I am happy to report that after 3 weeks I am beginning to notice improvement. Without hesitation, I would unreservedly recommend My-iClinic.

It has been a few months since I had Presbyond eye surgery at My-iClinic, and it's been one of the best decisions I've ever made. I no longer need glasses and can see the world with my own eyes, which has given me an incredible sense of freedom—something I didn't fully appreciate until after the surgery. Mr. Bolger, the surgeon, clearly and calmly explained every aspect of the process, from the results of the various tests to what would happen on the day of the operation. This put my mind at ease and made me feel confident in my decision. The operation went very smoothly thanks to Mr. Bolger's expertise. I'm glad I was operated on by one of the top eye surgeons in the country. The staff were also professional and kind throughout my visits. This summer, I took my daughter to a planetarium, and it was just incredible to experience it without glasses. I highly recommend My-iClinic to anyone considering laser eye surgery.

Premium lenses Frequently asked questions

Have a question? We are here to help.

Why would I consider Presbyond laser eye surgery or premium lenses (IOL’s) after having my cataracts removed?

Our patients consider having Presbyond laser eye surgery and/or premium lenses implanted after their cataract surgery to improve their vision and reduce the need for glasses. Cataract surgery requires removing the cloudy lens of your eye, therefore our surgeons need to replace your natural lens with an artificial Intraocular lens. We provide Presbyond and/or premium lenses to customise the results of your vision after removing your cataract. Our patients chose to have Presbyond surgery or premium lenses to increase the quality of their life with clearer vision.

How are lenses implanted after having cataracts removed?

Our cataract surgeons will implant the artificial lens into your eye once removing your cloudy lens. The artificial lens is folded and inserted through a very small incision made so that it rests in the same place as your natural lens once did.

What do lenses do after having cataract surgery?

Lens replacement surgery after having your cataracts removed requires an artificial lens to be implanted in your eyes to improve your vision. Lenses we provide improve refractive errors such as: nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. If you would like to know more information about lenses for cataract surgery, please call our specialist team on 0208 445 8877

Which premium lenses have the best success rate at improving vision after cataracts are removed?

Depending on the patient’s suitability and their own expectations for their vision, EDoF lenses (Extended Depth of Focus lenses) generally provide a better optical quality than other lenses. This is because EDoF uses a new IOL technology which extends the range of vision you can see in comparison to monovision or standard toric lenses. Our cataract patients report that EDoF lenses reduce symptoms of glare, starbursts and halos which can be common side effects of other artificial lenses.

How do I know which lens is the best option for me?

We understand that choosing the right lenses is important. Our expert ophthalmologist will advise you on the best lens options that will best suit you and your lifestyle. If you are interested in booking an appointment, our specialist team will be able to book you in with our cataract consultant today. Please contact 0208 445 8877 to book your appointment.

Can I get laser eye surgery after cataract surgery?

Yes, if you are suitable for laser eye surgery we can provide laser treatment after cataract surgery as an alternative to artificial lens implantation. This laser treatment is called Presbyond and has a 97% success rate in achieving clear vision for all distances in your vision.

How successful is Presbyond laser eye surgery after having cataract surgery?

Presbyond laser eye surgery has a 97% success rate in achieving clear vision for all points of sight (near, intermediate and distance). Our patients report that they are less dependent on their glasses, and after adjusting back to normal vision, they can resume all their lifestyle activities without needing to worry about glasses and/or contact lenses.

How does Presbyond laser eye surgery compare with premium lenses after having cataract surgery?

Every person has different requirements and expectations for their vision after cataract surgery. Having cataract surgery is already a massive improvement for your sight but having Presbyond laser treatment is a very successful procedure if you wish to be independent from your glasses. Our other premium lenses can achieve clear vision for certain points of sights if you do not mind wearing glasses for smaller tasks.

What material are premium lenses (IOLs) made of and how do they feel after implanted?

The artificial lenses we provide are made from gentle, flexible materials (acrylic, silicone, polymer or collagen) to naturally accommodate the eye. Once the lens is inserted, you will not feel the implant in your eye.
